  1. I felt the magic of possibility last night. I felt that Richard Leigh believed that any of us could write a great song. I have some time to spend with Richard today, and, boy, am I looking forward to it.

Thanks for coordinating a great program, Bob, and thanks, Barbe, for helping us pull it off.

John Hannum was right. If you didn't go last night, you missed something special.

  2. Last night, as I listened to Richard Leigh play "The Greatest Man I Never Knew", I realized what a privilege it was to have the rare opportunity to learn from a master songwriter without making the 650 mile trip to Nashville. At the end of the workshop, Richard took the time to sign CDs, chat, and take pictures with everybody who showed up. He gave everybody his card.

You can't do that at a concert. You can't do that watching TV at home. Generally, you can't do that in Dallas...except for last night.

Richard gave the attendees advice on how to write what he called a 3-minute miracle. He gave us a methodology on how to build a song from an idea, not just a title. I had several "a-ha!" moments during his lecture.

All of this was possible because of the Dallas Songwriters Association. An organization I'm proud to be a part of.

To those of you who attended the workshop last night, thanks so much for coming!

Thanks Barbara McMillen and Buck Morgan for helping to make everything run so smoothly!

Thanks Nancy Rynders for lending us your house for the one-on-one critiques (sold out!) this afternoon!

    Best Regards,

  3. Howdy All

I must say that tonight was a real honor and I wanted to thank everyone involved in putting together the program. Bob Paterno, Barbe McMillen, Buck Morgan and our wonder host Nancy Rynders. It was a dream come true for me and I am really bummed that I did not get to attend last nights meeting. Thank you all very much for the opportunity and I must say the DSA has come a long way this year with great events. I am hoping to get more involved again as my life has settled down. I feel like I have missed some great programs. Thank you all again!!!
